Works basically comprised of
the closure of Coltsgate Hill road, and the demolition of some
existing buildings,walls etc. in
order to make way for the new inner relief link road approx 160
metres in length between Coltsgate Hill and the new development
on Blossom gate.
There was some archaeological
interest within the boundary of the site during the initial
phase and works progressed in conjunction with there excavations
and observations.
Ground improvements and
remediation works followed to stabilize the ground prior to the
construction of approx 160 linear metres of retaining walls upto
a max height of 6m. These walls were mainly built from recycled
materials saved form the building and walls previously
demolished.
A part of the contract was down
to the statutory bodies diverting buried services to make way
for the roads sub structure especially around North Street and
Coltsgate Hill, with careful planning and co-ordination these
works were completed ahead of programme.
The road construction comprised
of a new sub structure, new kerbs, road macadam, footpaths,
street lighting, signage, drainage, lining works and the
retaining walls.
