Job description:
An historic bridge once painted by JMW Turner for his Yorkshire patron is being restored by workmen who must learn a new sort of building code to remember how to put it back together.
Structural dismantling of the bridge involved taking photographs of the bridge, labelling each stone as it is removed and dismantle in two stages. All the vegetation around the bridge was to be removed. Minor voids in abutments, spandrels and retaining walls are to be filled with stone and re-pointed when was necessary. |
