HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK
GENERAL POLICY STATEMENT
1. The Board of Directors of Houseman & Falshaw Ltd regard the promotion of Health and Safety measures as a mutual objective for management and employees at all levels
2. It is therefore this Company’s policy to do all that is reasonably practicable to prevent personal injury and damage to property and to protect everyone from foreseeable work hazards, including the public insofar as they come into contact with the Company or its products and services.
3. In particular, this Company has responsibility to:
3.1. Provide and maintain safe and healthy working conditions, taking account of any statutory requirements
3.2. Provide training and instruction to enable employees to perform their work safely and efficiently
3.3. Make available all necessary safety devices and protective equipment and supervise their use
3.4. Maintain a constant and continuing interest in Health and Safety matters applicable to the Company’s activities and for its management to set an example in safe behaviour.
3.5. Consult with its Employees on matters pertaining to Health, Safety and Welfare
3.6. Provide adequate time, money and any other resources necessary to ensure that legal obligations are met.
4. Employees have a duty to co-operate in the operation of this policy by:
4.1. Working safely and efficiently
4.2. Using the protective equipment provided and meeting statutory obligations
4.3. Reporting to their supervisors incidents that have led or may lead to injury or damage
4.4. Adhering to Company Safe Systems of Work and specific approved sub-contractor procedures for securing a safe work place
4.5. Assisting in the investigation of accidents with the objective of introducing measures to prevent a recurrence.
The Company Health and Safety Policy will be kept constantly under review. It will be modified and up-dated as circumstances and experience dictate with the assistance of Bielby & Charles Associates who act as Health and Safety Advisors to the Company.
The general statement of Company Policy relative to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 is supported by full details of the organisations and arrangements currently in operation.
The Company accepts its moral and legal responsibility to protect its personnel from unnecessary suffering and misery accompanying accidents at work. Therefore, it is in the interest of all to increase efficiency and productivity by the prevention of accidents.
